This past week was spent at my family’s cabin with my mother, and at the end of the week my husband came up to join us! One of the first things he and I did was to head over to Traverse City, Michigan to go wine tasting. Neither of us had ever done this, and the Leelanau Peninsula (where TC is located) is famous for their northern vineyards.
The vineyard situated before Grand Tarverse Bay was absolutely beautiful!
The winery was gorgeous, and was clearly modeled after its Italian cousins!
Inside the winery was a bar style seating/standing arrangement. I’d never been wine tasting, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was certainly an interesting experience. It was a lot of fun to chat with the people next to us and give and receive wine recommendations!
I’m not a big drinker, but wine tasting was a fun way to explore some new flavors and find some wines that were really great! I definitely prefer wine or champagne to other types of alcohol, and I loved that these wines were lighter and sweeter than most I’d had before.
This red Mari Vineyard Rosato was my favorite! I actually waited until I was 21 to have my first drink (I know, such a rebel! haha), so I haven’t had too long to explore different drinks, but this was a great way to get started!
The winery had a lovely outdoor seating area that provided an excellent view of the water, the vines, and the fall colors!
The beautiful shades of wine were the perfect compliment to the fall leaves just outside the winery.
The labels on the bottles were lovely as well!
For this afternoon at the vineyard, I elected to wear my Taylor Dress in Eggnog by Duffield Lane, a Wool Sweater from Madewell, and a Kendra Scott Necklace!
Note that I started off wearing heels, and promptly realized they weren’t the best shoes for walking around outdoors, so I switched to my gold/platinum Palm Beach Sandals later on. I always bring a change of shoes when wearing heels!
It’s such a shame that these didn’t work, I love the crackled gold look. Kate Spade heels are definitely one of my favorite!
Kendra Scott is an awesome accessory to any dress!
I was loving the metallic wine bottles!
Overall, my first experience wine tasting was very enjoyable! Like I said, I’m not much of a drinker, so I don’t know much about wine. However, I rwas very pleased with almost everything I tried here, and this was a great way to find some new favorites, explore different flavors and fragrances, and have fun! What are your favorite wines? Have you ever gone wine tasting? What was your experience like? Let me know in the comments below!
