I’ve been really excited about warmer weather so that I can break out my extensive collection of dresses. While back home in Connecticut, the weather is still a bit chilly, particularly in the mornings and evenings. The weather in Washington, D.C. was perfect for getting back into my favorite garment: dresses! I wore this white shirt dress by Madewell while we toured Hillwood Estate, Museum, & Gardens on our last day in the Nation’s capital, and it was the perfect companion for long walks and admiring the flowers. Here’s what I wore in Washington DC!

As promised, I’m working on sharing more of my outfits with all of you and continuing to wear everything in my closet at least once. It’s been a fun challenge to pack and wear as many different outfits as I could during our road trip so that I could get through at least a dozen outfits on this adventure. I find that sometimes I get stuck in a rut when it comes to wearing the same thing over and over again (after laundering it, of course, haha), and this has been a good way to pay attention to some of the lesser worn pieces in my closet.
During our road trip, I realized I packed many whites and blues, which is fine by me because these are two of my favorite colors. They are easy to mix and match to create fun and unique looks, so I may be grouping lots of outfits in similar color palettes in my postings, which I can then look back on to see the variety of silhouettes that I own.
I’ve found that some of my very favorite “new” pieces are dresses, like what I wore in Washington DC, that I’ve owned for a while and haven’t worn. This exercise of wearing everything in my closet at least once has been so eye-opening for me! At the end of it, I plan to dry clean and donate whatever I’m not absolutely in love with, hopefully thinning out my closet a bit and leaving only my very favorite pieces. Have you ever done something like this?
