Arrival at The Whaler’s Inn, Stanton House

Check-in was quick, simple, and convenient. We self-parked, brought our bags inside, and had our room keys in less than five minutes. The lobby offers a selection of complimentary snacks and drinks for guests, plus adult beverages for purchase. There’s also a carefully curated gift shop, more board games to borrow, and plenty of information about the area for guests to peruse.

Our Suite & Its Amenities

Our rooms were stunning. We had a walk-in entryway that split into the living room/sitting room/kitchen/dining room area, the bedroom, and the bathroom. We had everything we needed for a great stay, from a fully stocked kitchen complete with dishes, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator, to multiple flat-screen TVs, an assortment of books and board games, and, of course, plenty of storage.

The view from one side of our suite was beautiful, with the Mystic River and the Mystic River Bascule Bridge in sight. The other side offered us views of side streets overlooking the water. Everything was beautiful, comfortable, and so peaceful. It was perfect in every way.

Dining at The Shipwright’s Daughter

We had another fantastic dinner at The Shipwright’s Daughter during our most recent stay. Of course, I’ll post an entire breakdown of everything we ate. In the meantime, just know that Chef David Standridge has been nominated for another James Beard award for culinary excellence, and The Shipwright’s Daughter has earned recognition as one of the nation’s most sustainable fine dining restaurants. It’s always fantastic and only steps away from our room at The Whaler’s Inn!

You know I never write about places I don’t absolutely love. I recommend The Whaler’s Inn & The Shipwright’s Daughter to everyone who visits New England & coastal Connecticut. They’re classic New England experiences, and I hope to continue visiting such beautiful spots for many years to come!
