Out of Charleston‘s 170 or so hotels, only five are 5-star hotels. Wentworth Mansion is one of them, and for good reason. This stunning 21-room home turned opulent hotel is a delightful nod to southern hospitality that’s famous worldwide. Arrival at Wentworth Mansion
The parking lot is self-park, but a bellhop came out to help us with our bags. Check-in was a breeze, and we were in our room in no time flat.
Ambience of Wentworth Mansion
The mansion has rich, dark woods, ornately carved wooden details, brocade fabrics, Italian crystal chandeliers, stained glass panels, hand-carved marble fireplaces, and a light-filled sitting space perfect for reading, eating, drinking, or playing board games. Overall, it felt very peaceful and inviting.
The location was perfect, too, as everything was within walking distance. We rented an electric vehicle to get around Charleston, and they had a convenient electric charger on site.
Our King Mansion Suite & Its Amenities
Our suite was gorgeous. We were in room 12, which was a King Mansion Room. We had a sprawling room with a large sitting area, window seats, a king-size bed, fireplace, full armoire, and a large bathroom with a beautiful whirlpool bathtub, marble shower, vanity, and floor-to-ceiling windows. I’ve scarcely stayed in a larger hotel room, the photos truly don’t do it justice!

Everything we needed, from robes and towels to champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, welcome and visitor information, was already waiting for us when we arrived. Guests are entitled to a full breakfast at Circa 1886, the hotel’s award-winning restaurant. They, of course, have nightly turndown service, afternoon wine & hors d’oeuvres, a selection of port, sherry, and brandy each evening, plus light breakfast and snacks set out throughout the day alongside tea and lemonade.

They’ve thought of everything!
Dining at Circa 1886
We had breakfast and dinner at Circa 1886 while in town, and both meals were splendid. I’ve written a full review here, so check it out and find out why this restaurant is considered one of South Carolina’s finest!
Urban Nirvana Spa
During our stay, I had a fantastic massage at Urban Nirvana, the hotel’s on-site spa. Read the full review for all the details.
Final Thoughts
Overall, we had an excellent stay. This felt like a home away from home, and the hotel staff were very dedicated to ensuring that we and all the other guests had a splendid time. I was constantly impressed by their attention to detail, how immaculate the hotel was kept at all times, and how attentive the staff were without being overbearing. It’s a fine line to walk, and they did it effortlessly. I highly recommend considering Wentworth Mansion for your next stay in Charleston, SC.
