The Victorian, part of The Kent Collection, a set of five distinct rental properties in Kent, CT, was our home away from home for a weekend, and we had a lovely stay in their Wedding Suite. We’d never been to Kent, Connecticut, before, and this turned out to be the best possible place we could’ve stayed in the area. We were within walking distance of local shops, restaurants, and parks, and not far from Kent Falls State Park. Read on to learn more about our stay!

Arrival at The Victorian
Everything here is very hands-off, which is an excellent change of pace if you’re seeking a place to get away, unwind, and spend time alone with loved ones or focus on something like reading, writing, etc., without distractions. There is no valet or bellhop service here, and we were emailed a keypad code ahead of our arrival with a code unique to our stay to let ourselves into the house and our room. That means we were able to quickly check in and go about our day.

While this isn’t an Airbnb or anything like that, and instead a modernized inn, it was still so nice to have the option to handle everything ourselves. There’s also a full-time innkeeper who lives next to the inn, and her number is posted in the welcome emails, on the front door, and on the website, so should guests need to contact her, she’s available to help.
Ambience of The Victorian
This modern inn blended new and antique, high and low, bright and subdued. While it was very cozy and inviting, it was also fresh, refined, and elegant. This would be a great place to rent out for a family reunion, bachelor or bachelorette party, or friend getaway. I loved the botanical elements throughout the decor and how bright everything was inside.
Snacks and drinks are available in the kitchen for guests to enjoy leisurely throughout their stay. Things like muffins, popcorn, truffles, yogurt, and more were available for guests to enjoy throughout their stay and made everything feel more like staying in an actual house rather than a hotel.
Our Room
Each guest room of the home had its own unique flair. Ours, the Wedding Suite, was very bridal and airy, with vintage lace bridal lingerie hung on the wall, a large clawfoot bathtub in the bathroom, and a full-size vanity and armoire, perfect for storing clothing and enjoying the ritual of dressing each morning. It also had numerous tall windows, a gas fireplace, a large walk-in shower, a vintage scale, and a wooden dresser in the spacious bathroom.

We had a beautiful view of the nearby mountains, and it was so quiet at night that I could hear my heart beating, haha. If you don’t like total silence, I recommend bringing a noise machine or planning to play quiet music from your phone.
Final Thoughts
We had a wonderful stay, and I only wish we could’ve stayed longer. The area was so lovely, and there was so much to do. The food in town was great, I slept better than I had in weeks there, and there wasn’t a thing we would’ve changed about our romantic weekend away here exploring a new corner of New England. I can’t say enough good things about The Victorian, and I hope we can come back to explore and enjoy more of The Kent Collection in different seasons.
