The Spa’s Atmosphere
Quiet, peaceful, and bright, The Spa at Delamar West Hartford combined energetic decor with tranquil vibes. Upon our arrival, we were directed to fill out paperwork in the lovely lobby, which, as any frequent spa goer knows, is standard procedure. Then, we were invited to change in the private locker space, lock our belongings, and lounge in robes until our treatments. The lounge area was well stocked with various flavored waters, dried fruits, sweets, and nuts.
The waiting area was bright, whereas most I’ve visited are quite dark. It was a lovely change of pace and made it easier to transition from a massage to the “real world,” in my opinion. While the waiting area wasn’t large, it was comfortable.
Our Couple’s Massage
The couple’s massage room was pretty standard. Still, this one had a large river rock shower to wash off in afterward, and plenty of room to store our sandals, robes, and other belongings we may have brought with us (like my camera, which I had permission to use but don’t always have a spot for). It was definitely one of the more spacious couples’ massage rooms we’ve seen.
The treatment room was quiet, with the notable exception of soft, relaxing music playing. The heated tables, darker lighting in the massage room, and talent of our massage therapists made this one of the best couple’s massages we’ve had. I typically prefer a medium-firm pressure, and my massage therapist did an excellent job wringing out stubborn adhesions and sore spots from long days at the computer and even longer days hiking, camera in hand.
The Verdict
We left feeling restored, energized, and I personally felt like I could breathe better after a knot I’d had around my scapula vanished beneath skilled hands (and elbows, haha). I felt a bit bruised the next day, BUT that’s exactly what I’d asked for, and I’m very grateful. I’d been trying to get that spot at my shoulder to relax, and The Spa at Delamar West Hartford finally got rid of that persistent problem. I’m so thankful to have had a massage therapist who not only listened, but did a fantastic, consistent job. I’d love to return someday soon!
