While we were in Woodstock, VT, staying at the Woodstock Inn & Resort, I surprised my husband with a deep tissue massage for his birthday along with a relaxing morning lounging around The Spa at Woodstock Inn & Resort for his birthday. I absolutely loved soaking in the outdoor hot tub, steaming in the eucalyptus dampfbad, luxuriating in the dry-cedar sauna, and more than anything, spending uninterrupted time relaxing with my love as we celebrated another trip around the sun for him.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted and taken back into our respective locker rooms. In the women’s locker room, there was an ample changing area, including a private area, along with showers, a eucalyptus steam room, lockers, restrooms, vanity areas to sit and freshen up after relaxing at the spa, and a sitting area.

After changing and getting ready for my Tata Harper Custom Facial, I met my husband in the common area, where both men and women can relax together in their robes. We chatted quietly and excitedly about how much we were looking forward to our respective spa services, and my darling love, ever the planner, began to plan how we should best spend our time at the spa. It may seem counterintuitive to come up with a plan on how to relax most efficiently, but that’s just who my husband is, and it comforts me to know that he always has our next 20 steps planned out, even if it’s when the best time to hit the dry-cedar sauna.
My esthetician, Kristi, came to fetch me and led me upstairs to the facial treatment area. Once I was settled in, she began analyzing my skin to create another plan for my treatment (who knew relaxing and pampering oneself involved so much planning? lol just kidding, I didn’t have to do anything other than book the appointments!). I wrote a full breakdown of my incredible facial, which utilized Tata Harper products, all of which are organic and handcrafted here in Vermont, which you can read about at length here. I absolutely loved the results of this facial, and I’m now a huge Tata Harper fan!

Once my facial was finished, I headed back downstairs with glowing, dewy skin and rejoined my husband. We sipped on organic teas and then headed toward the gorgeous outdoor hottub, located in the spacious courtyard that extends the spa outdoors while creating the feeling of a private garden getaway. The hottub was the perfect temperature to relax and soak away sore muscles and was the perfect way for Robin (who, of course, showered off after his massage before getting in) to really double down on releasing the tension from his neck and shoulders.

Next, we hit the dry-cedar sauna, behind the hot tub and got our sweat on. Inside the sauna was a shower, but we decided to part ways, head back into the individual locker rooms, shower off, and then relax in the dampfbaden, which were eucalyptus-scented and so invigorating. I loved steaming away in the eucalyptus steam room, and once I was finished relaxing, I showered off and grabbed an iced facial towel, which was so refreshing.
After spa services above $100, guests are welcome to spend a couple of hours lounging around the spa and enjoying the various ameneties just as we did after our facials and massages. It was such a lovely way to spend a morning and afternoon together relaxing, lounging, steaming, soaking, and sauna-ing (okay, that last one might not be an actual word, but that’s okay!).
The spa also sells day passes for locals, guests, and visitors who might want to make use of the spa and all of its amenities as well, without booking any spa appointments. With that in mind, I have to say that this was one of the best facials I’ve ever received, and my husband enjoyed his deep tissue massage just as much, so I highly recommend treating yourself to a day of pampering at the Spa at The Woodstock Inn & Resort. You won’t regret it!
**Please note, cell phones and cameras are not allowed anywhere inside the spa or locker room for privacy reasons. However, I had special permission to arrive a bit early to photograph the space to share it with you before the spa opened, and I did so before any other guests arrived. Rest assured that your privacy will be completely respected here.
