Bright colors are a must when summer rolls around, which is why I wore this gorgeous red linen embroidered maxi dress for a festive touch of red on the first day the temperatures hit 90 here on the East Coast. Swimming is one of my favorite things to do in the summertime. As soon as it’s warm enough to hit the pool or beach, I’m there, making the most of the warm weather. Being from the north, the swimming season is generally rather short, but that’s part of what makes it so precious. This soft, easy-to-wear dress with full sleeves and an asymmetrical scoop hem is something I wore on our recent visit to Atlanta, GA, during our tour of the Atlanta Botanical Garden. I love monochromatic looks. They’re such a fun way to make a bold, bright statement, and dressing in the same color family makes it even easier. My secret to the perfect monochromatic look is to pick one or two colors (maximum) colors and dress around this theme. While the colors don’t have to be exact, the closer they are to each other, the better it will look. Alternatively, picking a color family like blues and blacks, for instance, and selecting different shades is another way to pull this off. I love wearing blue all year long, but there’s nothing quite like winter blues.
