Stargazing On the Beach in Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park called us back for beautiful clear skies and countless shooting stars. Something about this place feels so magical. Perhaps it’s the serenity of the untouched wildlands or the vast array of breathtaking landscapes, from rocky shorelines to tranquil springs. Whatever it is, it swiftly claimed a spot in my list of favorite places. Stargazing on the beach in Acadia National Park was such an unforgettable experience. Amidst the crashing of waves and laughter of a nearby family playing in the twilight sands, we heard a lone moose call out in the distance, majestic and eerie all at once.

If you plan to stargaze here, check the park hours and aim for earlier in the year when the sun sets sooner. Be sure to bring warm clothes and lots of layers because even though it had been in the 80s during the day, the temperature was in the 50s with the wind from Frenchman Bay. We also brought a blanket, but other people brought chairs. This spot was on the beach near Beehive Loop (the mountain visible to the left in the distance), and it was perfect for a June sunset. Whatever you bring, be sure to take it back out with you and leave no trace so we can all continue to enjoy these beautiful lands for generations to come.
