Spanish Tapas at El Pintón
This was my favorite restaurant in Sevilla, which is really saying something because every meal we ate there was excellent. Serving an incredible assortment of traditional and modern tapas (small plates meant to be shared), El Pintón exceeded our expectations in every way. If you seek a classic Spanish dining experience with traditional flavors in a gorgeous setting with colorful original Sevillian tiles, plenty of allergy-friendly options, and a great drink menu, look no further than Spanish tapas at El Pintón.

Ambience of El Pintón
Technically, there are three restaurants in the same place. They have distinct menus, but you can order drinks at the original restaurant (where we dined), their brasserie called Afuego, or food at the Aníbal Club (bar) and vice versa.
We dined at the Classic El Pintón portion of the restaurant and loved the colorful, charming Spanish tiles, brightly colored chairs, woven wall accents, original dark wood surroundings from the early 1800s, and farmhouse feel.

The different spaces within a single restaurant make it difficult to pin down exactly what this restaurant is going for in terms of style. Still, it works. Since they serve everything from cocktails and tapas to full meals like brunch, lunch, and dinner, as well as desserts and snacks for numerous diets and allergy restrictions, I could see myself returning time and time again for a unique experience.

Did I mention their menu changes regularly?
Our Meals at El Pintón
We hadn’t had Spanish tapas in Spain yet, so we wanted to go all in and try a little of everything.

Our server brought us a big bowl of complimentary Spanish olives grown in Sevilla to start. I love olives, but these were some of the best I’d ever had.

I’d never heard of tempura eggs before, even during the several months we’ve traveled across Japan. Naturally, this meant we had to try this. I couldn’t eat the tempura egg itself, but the whipped, herbed potatoes and truffle oil around it were fair game. Both my husband and I agreed this was one of the best dishes we had our entire trip!

I love sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and ceviche-type dishes, so I’m never shy around raw fish. When I saw this on the menu and learned it could easily be made gluten-free by omitting a few ingredients, I ordered it. I’m not exaggerating in the slightest when I say this was the best tuna I’ve ever had. It was so fresh (caught that same afternoon!), and everything was flavorful in the most harmoniously delightful manner.

We meant to order the roasted aubergine originally, but my Spanish was a little rusty, so they brought this instead. It was the definition of a happy accident because while I do enjoy sweet potatoes, I could’ve eaten nothing but these and been thrilled. It was exquisite and roasted so perfectly we ate it with spoons.

This unique cocktail was our waitress’ recommendation, and it was deeply refreshing. Not too sweet, the passion fruit and grapefruit sherbert atop the drink mixed with Plantation 3 Star, Yellow Chartreuse, Coconut, and sT. Germaine was perfection in a glass after walking all day in the heat.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this was a reasonable portion size. It was served in essentially a mixing bowl! There was more desert than there was whipped potato in the tempura egg dish, so it’s perfect for sharing with a large group. Since it was just the two of us, we only made it through about 1/4 of it before giving up, but it was utterly delicious.

Final Thoughts
We loved our Spanish tapas at El Pintón. It was fantastic from start to finish. The restaurant was obviously gorgeous, the historic tiles made the atmosphere even more special, and everything tasted phenomenal. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing about our evening!
