If you’re a regular reader, you know that one of the ways I get to know a place (and recuperate from walking 15+ miles a day when I travel) is by visiting a spa and checking out their local specialty spa services. Belmond Charleston Place‘s spa, The Spa at Charleston Place, was an oasis of relaxation and healing. When I entered, I felt a bit haggard from packing our days with as many adventures as we could. Still, I left the spa feeling completely rejuvenated, energized, and ready to continue our expedition.

My husband and I indulged in a Signature Couple’s Massage, and it washed away our troubles and our tired muscles, which were sore from hiking all around Charleston. Our masseuses ushered us from the relaxation room where we waited for them after check-in to their couple’s suite, which had two plush massage tables waiting for us. The room smelled like lemongrass and lavender, and it was dimly lit. The tables were perfectly warm, which is a simple touch that makes relaxing that much easier.

It was such a fantastic massage. Afterward, we were invited to relax for a bit and unwind. Attached to our couple’s suite was a bathroom, complete with a shower and changing area, which was very convenient. We left feeling energized and completely refreshed and carried on with our day.

After our massage, we could have swum in the hotel’s saltwater pool or soaked away sore muscles in the hot tubs just beyond the spa. After going for a dip, guests can enjoy a nourishing treat at the hotel’s rooftop bar & snack lounge, The Clocktower Terrace, which overlooks Charleston’s skyline with sweeping views of the city. If enjoying a good read under a beach umbrella on a chaise lounge sounds more your speed,  you can have your food and drinks brought to you poolside.
