Chicago is one of my favorite places in the Midwest. The food is wonderful, the people are friendly and helpful, and there is always something to do, whether it’s a festival, touring a museum, dining, or just sight seeing. Robin and I traveled to Chicago, because it was the nearest airport that would take us to our first destination. While there, we stopped at the DryBar, Giordono’s Pizza, and the Shedd Aquarium before flying out of O’Hare International Airport. Everything inside the Aquarium is breathtaking. From floor to ceiling, the entire place has details on details, literally! Check out these photos and see for yourself!
The door next to the entrance is a stunning copper double door beautifully decorated with a sea creature motif. I could have photographed this door for hours, it looked amazing from every angle, and the closer I looked, the more details revealed themselves to me.
The molding, walls, ceiling, and windows were all gorgeous and ornate as well. There were layers upon layers of detailing, especially on the ceiling.
Even the light fixtures fit the underwater theme of the building!
Sign up for updates so you don’t miss part II, where I show you the creatures that call the Shedd Aquarium home, including a couple of Beluga Whales, dolphins, neon fish, crabs, and more!
Thank you for reading!

Oh my goodness this is gorgeous. I have to go here. It’s now on my architecture bucket list (so nerdy hahah)
It’s a beautiful building, full of incredible creatures! The aquarium set it up so it’s fun for kids, teens and adults! I always enjoy visiting. It’s clear that they employee people who enjoy their jobs and care about the animals, plus if you’re a student you can get a deep discount that isn’t on their website (I think it’s $8/ticket with a valid student ID!). If you get the chance to visit, please let me know what you think! <3
I didn’t even have a bucket list until I found her website haha.
This post if lovely! I live in Chicago and have always loved the details at the Shedd
So gorgeous! Looks like a wonderful time!
