On the last leg of our most recent trip to Germany, which feels like a lifetime ago, we spent two nights at Resort Schwielosee, which was a scenic 45 minute drive from the Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The resort was cozy and the staff spoke both English and German. There was plenty to see and do around the resort, and everything from the service and food to the view from our room and amenities within the hotel was fantastic. Here’s why I recommend adding at least an extra night to your stay in Germany to visit Precise Resort Werder am Schwielosee in Werder (Havel), Germany.

About Precise Resort Schwielosee
This German luxury property is located on Lake Schwielosee, between the cities of Potsdam and Berlin. The staff speak both English and German, along with a handful of other languages, making it the ideal destination for discerning international travelers looking to escape from larger cities. This resort is located on a rolling estate, and has an elegant ballroom, 127 rooms & suites, 20 apartments and 8 bungalows with kitchenettes and sweeping balconies, along with 3 on site restaurants and bars. Boat up to the property’s private marina, or drive up and have the valet take care of your vehicle for you, and enjoy one Germany’s most luxurious health resorts.
How to Reach Resort Schwielosee
We rented a car and drove from Berlin to the resort, which was a very easy 45 minute drive. Be aware if you haven’t driven in Europe or Germany specifically, that almost all cars are manual. Thankfully, my husband grew up driving a manual and had no trouble driving through light traffic and winding roads to reach the resort. The car we rented had a built in GPS that took us right to where we wanted to go, and was from the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which was also where we were flying back home to the United States from. This made it very convenient to drop off the rental on our way back home.
The cost of parking our car on the resort’s property was included in the price of our stay, and parking was readily available.
Our Room at Resort Schwielosee
Our two room suite had an amazing view of Schwielosee Lake, which is absolutely beautiful all year long. We had a king size bed, an excellent view, a very spacious marble bathroom, two generous closets, and in true German fashion, robes and slippers to wear down to the spa area where the pool, saunas, and other amenities were located.
While we were there, we didn’t see many other guests, which meant that the property was very peaceful and we slept so well here. I’m not sure if the rooms were sound proof or if the resort was really almost completely silent at night, except for the sound of the lake waves lapping against the shore. This wellness and health hotel was truly peaceful, and after more than a month trekking around Europe, we needed exactly that.
Food at Precise Resort Schwielosee
The resort has an in-house restaurant called Restaurant Seapoint, which is where we dined for breakfast and dinner both evenings. Every day they had different foods available, all of which were made with seasonally available, locally sourced ingredients. I was so impressed with the variety of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options they had as well.
Menus are available in both German and English, and we had fun practicing our German while ordering, so even if you don’t speak German, you will have a wonderful time, especially if you are extra polite about it.
I can’t say enough good things about their springtime mushroom stew with dumplings, it was so delightful I ordered it both nights! It reminded me of springtime in Northern Michigan where I grew up picking mushrooms with my family to make similar meals, and I was so surprised to see it here in Germany!
Spa at Precise Resort Schwielosee
The spa and wellness center at Precise Resort Schwielosee, like most spas and wellness centers, had dedicated hours for families with children for a couple of hours a day, and the rest of the time was only for those over the age of 16. This was so nice, and made our time in the pool, saunas, and fitness center much more enjoyable because we didn’t hear other people’s kids screaming or crying, which helped us relax. The resort offers free childcare so parents can rest easy knowing their children are cared for nearby while they relax and unwind in the resort’s wellness facilities.
We each had massages, a facial, and a manicure and pedicure and our massage therapists and aestheticians mainly spoke German with us but also spoke English well, as most people in Germany do. Everything was excellent and so relaxing. After our spa treatments, we went for a swim, sat in their wet and dry saunas, and attended an informal yoga class that we were able to simply drop into. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

They offered us freshly pressed, raw organic juices around the wellness center and spa, and no shoes of any kind, with the exception of the hotel slippers were allowed inside the spa, which helped to keep it exceptionally clean. German people generally believe that bathing and relaxing in saunas is more hygienic when done in the nude after a thorough shower, so swimsuits are not allowed in the sauna area. They do offer small towels for people to sit on, should they wish. I’ll write more about nude bathing, both as we experienced it in Germany and in Japan, soon, and how it’s not in any way a sexual experience as Westerners who are unfamiliar with why they bathe this way might perceive it to be.

Other Activities Around the Resort
In addition to the spa, dining services, and other wellness amenities the resort offers, they also offer complimentary bike rentals, hiking maps, and boat rentals right inside their private marina so that guests without boats can still cruise on the beautiful lake. If you want to boat up to the resort from the 2 neighboring bodies of water, the Glindower and the Templiner See, guests visiting between May and October can park their yachts or boats at the marina.
Should you find yourself wanting to get out on the water but uninterested in renting one of the resorts boats, the resort also offers paddle board rentals, sail boats, rafts, canoes, inner tubes, and kayaks through a third party rental service. I recommend booking these at least 2 weeks in advance of your stay, if not at the time of booking your stay, as they are very popular activities during the summer months.
Final Thoughts on Precise Resort Schwielosee
Overall, we absolutely loved our time at Precise Resort Schwielosee. The combination of German countryside and waterfront charm made this resort unlike anywhere else we’d ever stayed. It was so peaceful and relaxing, the staff were so friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself was immaculately stocked with everything vacationers could dream of. I couldn’t think of a single thing this resort didn’t have that we would have wanted. If you’re looking for an excellent place to stay outside of larger German towns, Precise Resort Schwielosee is the perfect choice.
