Post House in Mount Pleasant, SC, right outside of Charleston, was a breezy, welcoming space that invited us to stay awhile as we enjoyed a beautiful lunch indoors. A tranquil oasis of culinary prowess and ingenuity, Post House was among some of the best food we had in Charleston.

Ambience of Post House
The outdoor seating area is spacious yet intimate, relaxing, and lively. Protected by towering olive trees and kept airy and cool with fans, being outside was like being at the beach in the best way. Their ample outdoor seating area looked straight out of a magazine!
The indoor seating space was darling, too, beautifully appointed with thoughtful touches of coastal southern style, the likes of which made us feel right at home. More important to me, the staff were so kind and helpful. Maybe it’s a Southern thing, but I find the service in the South is far more personable and less rushed than in other places in the States, particularly when compared to New England, where we reside.
Our Meals
We started off with a pair of salads and chilled soup. We shared both the Chicory Salad and the Shrimp Louie Salad, each of which was distinctly delicious. I’ve never had a bad salad, but these were two of the best salads we had in Charleston. Everything was fresh, flavorful, locally sourced, and impeccably plated. My favorite was the Shrimp Louie Salad! The Chilled Cucumber Soup with a hint of tarragon was refreshingly tart on a hot day.
The Blue Crab Toast was topped with a generous helping of blue crab meat and homemade mayo, plus red chili peppers and rosemary. Finished off with a touch of fresh lemon juice, this cool dish was delightful. I couldn’t eat the bread, of course, but Robin said it had the perfect bite of crunch, and that the crisp toasted bread complimented the tender crab meat perfectly.
Looking for a fresh, flavorful take on the classic burger? The Crispy Butterbean Burger is exactly what you seek! This unique sandwich has an almost curry flavor to it, which, when paired with Post House’s signature “comeback sauce,” is a filling, delicious meal for any self-respecting burger aficionado. The fries were perfection too!
Final Thoughts
This was our first time at Post House, but it won’t be our last. Every bite was better than the last, and we tried to fit in a second visit before we left, but it wasn’t meant to be this time. If you’re in Charleston or Mount Pleasant, head to Post House for some incredible food, a beautiful atmosphere, and fantastic service!
