2018 is forecasted to be very Ultra Violet, the color selected by Pantone this year. For the last two decades, Pantone, a company world famous for having standardized colors within the arts and various production sectors, has selected a color to represent each year based on cultural, social, and political events around the world.

Ultra Violet was selected for 2018 as it is a hue reminiscent of whimsy, curiosity, experimentation, individuality, determination, inventiveness, and mindfulness. Inspired by the infinite cosmos and infinite human potential, the theme for this year was decidedly optimistic and hopeful as the world continues to push onward with regular advances in technology, medicine, human rights, the arts, and beyond.

The UICA, known as the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, an extension of Ferris Statue University’s Kendall College, is hosting a representation of all things Ultra Violet from April 06, 2018 until July 29th, 2018. Some of the unique installations demonstrate through various mediums the manner in which Ultra Violet represents the human experience, and invites visitors to experience the color through all five senses in various rooms of the museum space.
