Aerlume | Seattle
Sustainability, and supporting local growers is something we’ve been trying to do more often. The concept of honoring the Earth, one another, and becoming more attuned to the unique flavors, textures, colors, and fragrances of each local season through food is precisely what Aerlume (pronounced like heirloom) is all about. Located between Bell Harbor Marina and the famous Pike Place Market, overlooking beautiful Puget Sound, Aerulume had some of the most flavorful, inspired food we’ve ever encountered in the Pacific Northwest.

Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge | Seattle
On the 16th floor of the brand new 5-Star Lotte Hotel Seattle is one of the best brunch spots I’ve ever visited. Overlooking breathtaking Puget Sound, the surrounding mountains, and the city of Seattle, Charlotte Restaurant and Lounge was one of our favorite dining experiences in the city. The Matilda R. Wilson Aviary – Detroit Zoo: Vol II
The Matilda R. Wilson Aviary inside the Detroit Zoo is a beautiful oasis filled with tropical birds that are free to fly wherever they’d like inside the aviary and tropical garden. This is one of my favorite places in Michigan to visit, in addition to Frederik Meijer Gardens, when I need a break from the cold, dreary winters that seem to stretch on endlessly. There’s something so refreshing, enchanting, and soul soothing about stepping into the tropical climate, being surrounded by the sweetest bird songs, and lush, blooming flowers like red or yellow hibiscus and bright pink bougainvillea.

Outrageous Milkshakes at M Street Baking Co.
I considered titling this post “My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard”, but alas, I cannot take credit for these incredible creations thus they are not “my” milkshakes, nor were they enjoyed in a yard, mine or otherwise, and tragically, no boys arrived to enjoy a milkshake with us. C’est la vie! Regardless, neither my husband nor I have very big sweet tooth, but every now and then we come across a dessert that’s so unique, and so out there that we have to try it, and these milkshakes were exactly that. Boasting more than 106,000 “likes” on Facebook, M Street bakery, located in the small town of Howell, Michigan, has been gaining national attention for their wild, over the top confections, so we knew we had to go check them out for ourselves!
