On the 16th floor of the brand new 5-Star Lotte Hotel Seattle is one of the best brunch spots I’ve ever visited. Overlooking breathtaking Puget Sound, the surrounding mountains, and the city of Seattle, Charlotte Restaurant and Lounge was one of our favorite dining experiences in the city. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Alexander La Motte, who has previously helped restaurants attain Michelin Stars, we were served a gorgeous meal featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

I was indescribably excited when Lotte Hotels & Resorts extended an invitation to join them during the grand opening of their newest location in Seattle, Washington. They treated us like royalty at every turn, from customized in-room gifts and flowers and pampering at Le SPA de l’hôtel Lotte, to meals crafted by Michelin Starred Chefs at Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge and staff that greeted us by name everywhere we went inside the hotel, Lotte Hotel Seattle’s hospitality exceeded our wildest expectations. Being one of the very first guests to ever stay at Lotte Hotel Seattle, Lotte’s third property in the United States, was an honor unlike any other, and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to share this stunning hotel with you!
The Matilda R. Wilson Aviary inside the Detroit Zoo is a beautiful oasis filled with tropical birds that are free to fly wherever they’d like inside the aviary and tropical garden. This is one of my favorite places in Michigan to visit, in addition to Frederik Meijer Gardens, when I need a break from the cold, dreary winters that seem to stretch on endlessly. There’s something so refreshing, enchanting, and soul soothing about stepping into the tropical climate, being surrounded by the sweetest bird songs, and lush, blooming flowers like red or yellow hibiscus and bright pink bougainvillea.
The Detroit Zoo is a place where injured or abandoned animals can live out their days in safety, and where animals that can one day go back to living in the wild can receive the help and loving care they need to be rehabilitated. All of the animals living at the zoo were either rescued from captivity and abuse, were injured and can no longer live with their kind in the wild, or will one day be released back into the wild to help bolster threatened and endangered animal populations. Read on to learn all about the incredible work the Detroit Zoo does, from helping to rescue and rehabilitate animals impacted by the Deep Water Horizon Spill and helping to reintroduce wolves to Isle Royale National Park to rescuing and keeping safe former circus animals or helping to protect endangered animals all over the world, there is no better animal education, rehabilitation center, and zoo in North America.
Michigan offers endless exciting adventures all year long for those willing to seek them out, from walking through hundred acre flower fields or climbing through ice caves to sailing the Great Lakes, SCUBA diving through shipwrecks and enjoying some of the world’s best food and drinks, there are so many incredible things to do in Michigan.
I considered titling this post “My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard”, but alas, I cannot take credit for these incredible creations thus they are not “my” milkshakes, nor were they enjoyed in a yard, mine or otherwise, and tragically, no boys arrived to enjoy a milkshake with us. C’est la vie! Regardless, neither my husband nor I have very big sweet tooth, but every now and then we come across a dessert that’s so unique, and so out there that we have to try it, and these milkshakes were exactly that. Boasting more than 106,000 “likes” on Facebook, M Street bakery, located in the small town of Howell, Michigan, has been gaining national attention for their wild, over the top confections, so we knew we had to go check them out for ourselves!
This beautiful, intricately designed and expertly crafted blouse from The Great has been something I’ve worn at least once a week over the past few months. Styled with skirts, pinafores, under shirtsleeve dresses, with jeans, or high waisted shorts, this blouse does it all.
Summer is drawing to a close, and fall is nearly here. To make the most of this transitional period, before it becomes too cold, we’ve been trying to spend as much time as possible outside, enjoying the last few warm days here in Michigan. The leaves are already beginning to change colors, and the sun is setting sooner, so I wanted to squeeze in one last visit to a flower field before the end of the season and spend a day picking sunflowers. We took a trip to DeBucks Flower Farm, where they also have a corn maze, hay rides, and other fall themed activities, to pick some gorgeous Sunflowers, cosmos, zinnias, lavender, and other fall flowers.
I’ve been working from home for a few years now as a luxury travel writer and photographer, and one of the biggest things that help me stay productive and keeps me crossing things off my very long to-do list each day, is having an organized office space. My home office tour is one of my most requested blog posts, so I’m hoping that my office/closet area inspires you to carve a little corner, desk, or room for yourself at home to make a space that’s all your own, so that you can work from home, focus on schoolwork, or pursue your passion in a place that’s entirely your own.
Autumn is such a magical time of year, as well as my personal favorite season. The leaves change colors, trees look alight with the fires of autumn, and the days become a little darker, and a little colder, hinting at the hibernation to come. Each autumn, my husband and I have an unofficial list of things we like to do before the season ends, and I wanted to share with you 50 fun things to do this fall.
Le Bon Macaron is the best place to find handmade, authentic French macarons in Michigan. They have two locations, one in Ann Arbor, and one in Grand Rapids, both locations also serve ice cream, handmade sodas, coffees, espresso, a variety of tea, and they have a cute selection of merchandise like travel mugs, totes, and clothing that any Francophile should enjoy.
