I love adding an unexpectedly intricate detail to my outfits, whether it’s something like an ornate handmade metal handbag, wide lacy sleeves, or lavishly embroidered eyelet details. This oversized embroidered shirt collar harkens back to when many people handmade their own clothing, and poured hours of loving handwork into making an item all their own. I think oversized shirt collars are more beautiful than ever, particularly when they are handmade or vintage. Keep an eye out for a post about how I attach vintage collars to shirts for extra impact.

This pastoral vibe. is so relaxed and comfortable, and was perfect for a balmy day in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I paired my Reclaimed Vintage Denim Dress with an embroidered oversized collar shirt, and a pair of Anothersole shoes. I love their shoes because for each pair we purchase, they donate food to those in need, so we can feed our neighbors in need while looking cute. Another aspect of this outfit I love is that the denim brand, Reclaimed Vintage, repurposes old clothing or headstock fabric, which is leftover fabric from other brands that would otherwise be thrown away, which reduces waste, reduces the strain on textile production, and helps give older clothing a new lease on life.
All of these items are true to size. I’m wearing a size 39 in the shoes, a small in the denim dress, and a small in the blouse with the embroidered collar, both of which have a bit of an oversized fit. Despite being leather shoes, my shoes from Anothersole had no break in period, and were comfortable from the very first time I wore them. I couldn’t get over how comfortable, soft, and supple the leather was, it was as though they were already broken in! I wouldn’t have worn these socks with these shoes if I had known they would be so comfortable and wouldn’t cause me any issues, but now I know that for next time.

Another trend I’ve been fully embracing lately is wearing padded headbands and stacking them with something in a similar color family. For instance, I’m wearing this padded, brown and blue floral printed velvet headband from Anthropoligie, and I paired it with a skinny satin headband in the same color of brown that I picked up on Amazon as part of a pack of 30 headbands. Not only do they keep my hair out of my face, but they also help add some interest in an otherwise simple outfit.
