An Organic Mallorcan Garden
One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to explore gardens. The design, plants, orientation, and accents are always unique. In fact, I have an entire vertical dedicated to my favorite gardens from around the world. Our hotel, Finca Ratxó Hotel in Mallorca, Spain, had a gorgeous organic garden on the property, where much of the produce used in the restaurants on the property, like Mountain Restaurant Arraxta.
I adored the abundance of organic herbs, vegetables, and olives. They even grow edible flowers! The handmade clay jars adorning the corner of the garden were thrown down the road. The rocks surrounding the raised garden beds were salvaged when the resort was built and arranged neatly to keep wild animals, like goats, away from the food.
Here are some of the things we ate at the resort that were grown in the garden pictured above.
Hotel Breakfast
This was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had. They had an incredible assortment of hand-pickled vegetables, cheeses, smoked fish, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, sandwiches, and much more. Honey from bees kept around the property sweetened many of the offerings, including handmade jams and jellies. It was the perfect way to experience the region’s terroir. Everything was splendid!
Mountain Restaurant Arratxa
The property’s lunch spot, Arratxa, featured greens and vegetables grown in the resort’s garden. Everything was crisp, fresh, and perfect!
