I used to dread getting “dressed up” during colder weather, because it usually meant wearing bulky layers in mostly blacks and greys. This season I’m breaking out of my rut and embracing different colors, playing with textures and fun details on my outfits, and donning festive accessories while still remaining seasonally appropriate. My husband’s family is really big on the holidays so during the months of November and December, we have at least two “holiday get togethers” each week, which makes planning a new outfit for each a challenge. This is what I wore to one of four Thanksgiving dinners we went to, and I received a lot of compliments on not only my outfit, but my Mary Frances Hand Beaded Gingerbread Man Handbag as well as my jewelry. Mary Frances is my new favorite handbag brand, because each bag is delightfully and carefully crafted by men and women who would otherwise have to work in low wage positions. I LOVE the variety of bags that she has created, everything from cameras, avocados, and drink shaped handbags to sombreros, gumball machines, roses, guitars, pineapples and everything in between! There’s seriously something for every occasion, and I’m so in love with the high quality and excellent craftsmanship, as well as the overall uniqueness of this bag! You can check out more of her creations here!
I’m more than 1/4 Ottawa (Native Americans who have lived in the Great Lakes basin for centuries), so I like to wear something to remind me of my family and our hope for the future by wearing something like this arrowhead necklace from Starfish Project (which helps combat human trafficking and rescues young girls and women from brothels), especially around this time of year when we focus on things we are thankful for and look to the new year ahead of us! Do you own any meaningful jewelry?
I’m posting my outfit details below for you, so you can spice up your wardrobe too this holiday season!
