Chandler’s Petoskey is one of Petoskey’s best places to eat. Located right downtown in Petoskey’s Gaslight District, Chandler’s Restaurant & Wine Cellar is al fresco dining at its finest. Its iconic moss covered shingles, outdoor string lights, and ever-burning torch means it stands out despite being tucked away in a recessed nook between Symon’s General Store and Ciao Bella Interiors. Chandler’s Petoskey is one of the finest dining experiences in the state of Michigan. They peddle everything from gourmet French cheeses and exotic berries to locally harvested and aged wines and liquors as well as beautifully plated salads, fresh sides, and snacks from Symon’s General Store next door. Dine al fresco with us under the balmy Michigan sun at Chandler’s, and see why we make it a point to stop in every time we’re in my hometown of Petoskey.

It’s always a good idea to make reservations at Chandler’s Petoskey as soon as possible, because this place doesn’t have many tables, and it fills up quickly. During our last visit, they weren’t able to accommodate us because we waited too long. It’s worth the extra effort, trust me! To make a reservation, simply call (231) 347-2981. I recommend calling at least a few hours in advance, especially if you’d like to eat outside.
Chandler’s Petoskey is excellent about accommodating guests with allergies or special food preferences whenever possible. There are a number of options for vegans, pescatarians, and those who follow gluten free diets. Everything we’ve eaten here has been excellent, and it’s always so flavorful. What really keeps us coming back, is that they update their menus frequently and highlight local sourced ingredients, so many of their dishes are made with in-season ingredients. The dishes that aren’t are likely imported from France’s wine region, like their incredible cheeses, or elsewhere around the world, like some of their herbs.
We recommend: Street Tacos with Tuna, Chandler’s Petoskey Cheese Board featuring English, French, and Dutch gourmet cheeses and an assortment of accoutrements, and the Isle of Skye Salmon
The staff of Chandler’s have always been excellent to us. They do their best to accommodate our last ditch efforts to get a table, and they always give us the best recommendations. During our last visit, we saw the male host help escort and older lady down the steps and to her seat, and he did it with the kindest smile on his face while he asked about her day. It was one of the sweetest, most natural gestures I’ve ever seen from any server at any of the restaurants we’ve visited. Chandler’s Petoskey staff treat us, and all of their other guests, like family.
