Despite being 7 hours away from where we live, when we were invited to stay at West Baden Springs Hotel, which had been on our luxury hotels bucket list for ages, we packed our bags and headed out for an incredible road trip to our southern neighbors in Indiana. The drive turned out to be well worth it for a chance to explore this historic hotel, which is on the list of National Historic Landmarks.
Our room was beautifully appointed, and felt as though we were stepping back in time, to a period where details mattered, and elegance was prized above all else. Everything from the ornate, emerald green bathroom moulding to the textured filigree wallpaper blended together in a cohesive atmosphere that made the hotel feel even more elegant than we’d anticipated.
West Baden Springs Hotel boasts several on-site dining options for guests, including my personal favorite, Ballards in the Atrium, which gives guests the opportunity to dine amongst statues and ficus under the massive dome that’s the calling card of the hotel. We loved the lunch we had here, and I’m still dreaming about the delectable charred salmon salad with asian greens that I enjoyed in the atrium!

Other dining options include in-room dining service, of course, as well as Sinclair’s Restaurant that offers classic European fare, Table One private dining located directly next to the kitchen, Sinclair’s private dining room, plus Xanadu Coffee & Creamery which serves Starbucks coffee and a variety of ice cream and desserts. Nearby French Lick Resort, owned by the same people who own West Baden Resort, also offers seven additional restaurant experiences for guests of either hotel.
One of my favorite features of West Baden Springs Hotel is their immaculate spa that spans 28,000 sq feet, where they offer nearly every spa service imaginable, like massages, facials, nail services, back and body treatments, mineral baths, waxing services, as well as couples treatments, aromatherapy and sports services, and so much more. Keep an eye out for a post about the Spa at West Baden Springs Hotel in my Luxury Spas of the World series, coming soon!
While at West Baden Springs Hotel, we enjoyed a wonderful stroll around the grounds, which are on the edge of Hoosier National Forest, sat on the porch and enjoyed the view of the sprawling gardens, which we later walked through more than once, and listened to live music in the atrium each night. We also worked out in the well stocked gym that has treadmills, elliptical, and weight equipment, then showered off and went for a swim each night of our stay under the stars in the outdoor pool.

This hotel has everything you could want, and you could reasonably stay at the hotel without leaving for a romantic weekend away, bachelorette party, or girls trip, because West Baden Springs hotel has everything you need and more to have a wonderful trip. The staff were also so attentive, friendly, and helpful, and everything was spotless our entire stay, which was very impressive considering how massive the hotel is!

If you’re looking for a getaway in the midwest, but don’t want to skimp on luxurious amenities, explore West Baden Springs hotel and see why it’s earned so many accolades from local and international travel authorities. It’s truly a spectacular place to visit, and I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Indiana, or up from an exciting road trip like we were!
Safe travels!
