There’s no shortage of incredible places to eat in Atlanta, and Le Colonial is one of the best places in town for Vietnamese food. Heralded as an “escapist paradise,” it is a beautiful retreat from city life that harkens back to a bygone era of romance and sophistication. Inspired by the elegance and complexity of 1920s Saigon, this lovely lunch & dinner spot was one of my favorite meals in Atlanta, GA.

The Ambience
Like a tropical escape, Le Colonial is filled with verdant live plants, exquisite and unusual textures, and enthralling objet d’art reminiscent of France and Vietnam, where the owners derived their inspiration. We dined outside on the open-air balcony and enjoyed the warm breeze while eating our delicious meals.

The interior is quite a bit darker, ergo more romantic. There’s space for larger parties and private dining and one of the most expansive bars we have seen in the city.
Le Colonial Menu & Our Meals
We began our exquisite dining experience with the Goi Cuon Chilled Shrimp Rolls. These yummy little rolls are filled with jumbo Georgia shrimp, rice noodles, bean sprouts, lettuce, and aromatic herbs like mint and cilantro and served with a robust peanut sauce. Served cold, these were not only gluten-free but very refreshing!
Robin ordered the Ca Hoi Nuong Roasted Salmon. Miso glazed Faroe Island salmon served with organic shiitake mushrooms, baby bok choi, coconut lobster broth, and annatto oil made this a delight. This was also gluten-free.
I ordered the Cari Tom Green Shrimp Curry, and it was incredible. A fragrant and dynamic spicy green coconut curry, it consisted of tender jumbo shrimp, bamboo shoots, fresh lime leaf, snap peas, and zucchini with white rice. Every bite of this was better than the last. I didn’t think it was spicy, but I love spicy food, so keep that in mind. I would order this once a week if I lived in the area.
Everything was so delicious! I can’t say enough great things about Le Colonial!
Final Thoughts
This restaurant had plenty of gluten-free options, and everything we ordered was spectacular. I loved the atmosphere, the decor, the flavor combinations, and the laid-back vibe of Le Colonial. Keep in mind that they have a dress code that they strictly enforce, which is outlined on their website. They turned a few people away while we were eating, so they take it quite seriously.
