Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago, home of Fisk & Co. Restaurant and beautiful views of the Chicago River, was one of our homes for several days during our recent visit to the Windy City. We absolutely loved our stay in our spacious room, which was much bigger than most other hotel rooms in the city, because it immediately made us feel right at home.

It’s not an over exaggeration to say that Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago treated us like royalty from the moment we pulled up to the curb of the hotel. In a flash, a valet attendant came over to open my door, another staff member helped us unload our bags and brought them up to our room so we didn’t have to lift a finger. The entire check-in process, from our arrival until we were in our hotel room with our belongings, took less than 3 minutes (and we were all the up on the 12th floor)!
We were so impressed with the staff, their attention to detail, and how huge our hotel room was. Our large room, which wasn’t even a suite, had a large bedroom with a king bed, a massive bathroom with a spacious rain shower, an entry way that was perfect for all of my shoes, a hallway with a spacious coat closet where we stored our luggage, and my favorite feature, a long twin bed sized window seat stuffed with pillows, with a fantastic view of the Chicago River and the city below. Everything was, of course, exceptionally clean and everything we could possibly need was waiting in our hotel room. In addition to standard hotel amenities like toiletries, makeup remover, snacks, and drinks, they also had bikes we could borrow to explore the city, and Fisk & Co., the hotel’s award winning restaurant, was located on the ground floor.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have time in our schedule to enjoy the hotel’s restaurant, but twice we entered the elevator with people who had just finished eating there and we listened to each couple rave about how amazing the food was. I hope that next time we are in town we will have a chance to try it out, because even just listening to their descriptions made us both hungry! In Glasgow, we stayed at the Kimpton Blythswood Square and ate at their award winning restaurant, Bo & Birdy, and it was one of the best meals we had in the entire United Kingdom, which is saying a lot, because everything we ate there was absolutely fantastic. Knowing how great the other Kimpton’s food was, made it extra disappointing that we couldn’t fit in a visit to Fisk & Co, which is famous for their mussels, but next time we are in town, it’s on our list.
The hotel was decorated generously with gorgeous art, and the former hat factory that the hotel resides in has a beautifully appointed hotel lobby featuring a crazy amount of vintage style hats. Our room also had a lot of interesting and eclectic art, which is something my husband and I both absolutely love, and it made us feel even more at home, because have lots of interesting and unique art on our walls at home, in addition to copious amounts of my framed photographs.
All in all, we absolutely loved our stay. It was in a fantastic location which made keeping up with our busy schedules a breeze, the staff were so friendly and helpful, always greeting us with smiles and asking if there was anything they could do for us, the valet was very careful with our vehicle, and our room was the perfect place to set up during our time in the city. If you’re looking for an amazing, fun, funky hotel overlooking the Chicago River in the Windy City, you really can’t do better than Hotel Kimpton Monaco Chicago!
