About a month ago, my local Vineyard Vines store reached out to me asking if I wanted to host a charity event with them, so of course I emphatically said “YES” [It was over e-mail, so I had to pretend to play it cool haha!]. I was asked to select a local charity or organization to donate to, which was overwhelming, until I thought of my friend Nicole’s sweet son Gabe, who is battling brain tumors. At only three years old, this brave little guy is stronger and has gone through more than anyone should have to in a lifetime (you can learn more about him and his battle here!). Nicole and her son live out of state, but my alma mater, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, has an outstanding children’s hospital (C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital), which helps children like Gabe and their families every day.
After doing some digging and discussing the options with the stores’ assistant manager Britney (who is amazing by the way!), we decided to go with Mott Children’s hospital and donate to their Family Hope Fund which “…helps provide gas cards, gift certificates, food, lodging or transportation to and from Mott — and lets the family focus on healing.” which is one of the most worthy causes I can imagine!
The event will take place at Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan from 6pm-9pm on November 10th. Everyone who comes to shop (or orders over the phone at 248-649-6833) will receive 10% off their total purchase, and 10% of the sale will be donated to Mott’s Family Hope Fund!
I can’t adequately describe how excited I am to be working with one of my absolute favorite brands while simultaneously helping those in need, and in honor of such a sweet little boy! Vineyard Vines is such an incredible, humble, and loving company! It feels weird to use “loving” and “company” in the same sentence, but if any company merits that combination of verbiage, it’s undoubtedly Vineyard Vines. They recently postponed a sale in consideration of those affected by a recent hurricane, they regularly support their customers who are celebrating major events or beginning entrepreneurial endeavors, and they regularly host charity events. All of these things demonstrates just how much they truly care about their customers, employees, and the communities they are a part of!
Email excerpt stating why they rescheduled their huge friends and family sale, they’re AMAZING!
