Tennis is my favorite sport both to play and watch. I’ve been playing since middle school for fun, and I was on the team in high school. In college, I played more casually, oftentimes with my boyfriend at the time (to whom I’m now married!). During the shutdown last year, Robin and I dusted off our rackets and got back into the swing of things (I hope you LOVE tennis puns!) after not playing for a few years, and it’s been so much fun to get back on the court. One of my favorite things about tennis, aside from the game itself and the fact that it’s a great workout, is the darling tennis attire that has once again become a summertime staple in my wardrobe. This year, I’ve partnered with one of my favorite tennis outfitters, Hedge New York, an American tennis & golf brand, to show you why I’m so in love with their clothes both on and off the courts (or golf greens!).
What I’m Wearing
Yes, I am in fact wearing a tutu skirt. Yes, it’s the floatiest, loveliest skirt I own, yes it has pockets, yes, there’s some stretch to the waistband, and no, you will never see me wear any other skirt, ever again. Okay, I’m kidding about the last part, but do you see the way this skirt moves? It’s unreal. Next time I’m back at the tennis courts, I will make a TikTok video of this in action because it’s almost lighter than air. Plus, it comes in 3 colors, white (shown here), a precious pastel pink that’s at the top of my wishlist, and a gorgeous navy. This skirt is perfect for everyday wear too, and because it’s lined, it’s not sheer in the slightest. I truly adore this skirt!
One of my biggest fashion pet peeves is when clothing is so sheer that I have to wear another layer underneath it, which also becomes visible. This 100% cotton Hedge tee is thick enough that it’s completely opaque, and you can’t see my sports bra through it all. Plus, this tee shirt is super soft, and it keeps me feeling cool and dry while I play tennis, so in summary, it’s the best tee shirt I own, and you need one too.
Varsity jackets were never a “thing” at my high school, so I’ve never owned one. I was instantly smitten when I saw Hedge’s fresh, modern take on this timeless athletic staple. You can choose any letter you want to truly make it your own, so of course, I went with the first letter of my first name. While I was taking these photos, two different people came up and asked me where I got my tennis whites, and both also asked about this jacket, so it’s safe to say this jacket style is genuinely timeless. This one is nice and lightweight, made from a super-soft French terry material, so it’s lighter and softer than a standard letterman jacket.
I “capped” off my first look with their green, washed chino twill hat, my favorite leather tennis shoes (last worn here and here), and these two cute scrunchies, the green one from Anthropologie the white one from a local boutique. I’m also wearing my favorite Apple Watch band, upcycled from vintage silver cutlery with a 3D cutout of a floral bouquet (last seen here and here).
Hedge New York Sizing
I found their sizing to be very true to size and consistent from item to item. I wore my normal size in everything, and it all fit perfectly. If you want more of an oversized fit with the jacket, I recommend sizing up once in that. For a more fitted tee-shirt, I recommend sizing down, although my normal size fit exactly the way I wanted with a little extra room to move around in.
