The saying “you are what you eat” is what inspired me earlier this year to focus on a much more plant-based diet. I still occasionally eat fish and seafood if I have a connection to the person who caught it, and I can verify beyond a shadow of a doubt that the seafood was caught in a very sustainable way. Mostly it’s been plants and veggies for my husband and me for the last 3 months or so. In our quest to stay mainly plant-based, even when on the go, we found Garden of Flavor organic, raw, cold-pressed juices at our local Whole Foods, and they quickly became our favorite road trip pick-me-up and on-the-go power-up. Plus, these delicious, nutritious juices, which are my favorite cold-pressed juices at Whole Foods, have helped the appearance of my skin tremendously since I started drinking them more often.
I love making my own cold-pressed juices at home, but when I don’t have the time to wash, prep, and juice my own produce, or most recently when I had one arm in a cast and couldn’t easily juice for myself, Garden of Flavor juices are the next best thing to freshly pressed by my own hands. Garden of Flavor juices is USDA-certified organic, vegan, naturally gluten-free, and full of essential vitamins, trace minerals, and other nutrients, which have helped my skin regain its even tone and inner glow, despite all that’s happened in my life lately.
My two favorite Garden of Flavor juice blends are the Belly Rub Juice, which contains cabbage, pear, parsley, mint, and ginger, along with the Power Greens Juice, which is packed with nutrients from nearly 5 pounds of organic greens in each bottle. Power Greens Juice is made with cucumber, kale, celery, spinach, and lemon. Both are delicious and so energizing, particularly if you’re like me and you love really “green” juices.
As I mentioned above, they’ve been an excellent way to help me heal faster. After the car accident, I sought out as many anti-inflammatory foods as I could find to help quickly reduce the swelling around my injuries (as well as the stiffness and pain that accompanied them) and help my body heal faster. Just like we can’t build a house without the proper tools and materials, our bodies are only as good at healing as the nutrients we feed them. My bruises from the accident began healing noticeably faster when I reintroduced these anti-inflammatory veggies back into my diet in high quantities, my swelling and stiffness around my injuries dissipated more quickly, and the breakout on my face from all of the stress of last month’s events quickly resolved itself after drinking more cold-pressed juices.
I can see a visible difference in my skin, particularly around my eyes, when I regularly drink cold-pressed juices like these from Garden of Flavor. More than any concealer or color corrector I’ve ever tried, fresh-pressed vegetable juices have helped significantly lighten up the dark circles around my eyes and even out my complexion. I asked my dermatologist about this, and she told me there’s a definite, scientifically proven correlation between having a good diet and a good complexion. While it’s not easy, or really even feasible to eat 5 pounds of organic produce in a single sitting (or a single day!) despite the nutritional benefits they contain, drinking 5 pounds of raw, organic produce is as easy as opening a bottle of Garden of Flavor juice. It really is true that beauty comes from within!
I’d also like to mention that although these juices are bottled in plastic bottles, the bottles are BPA-free and 100% recyclable, so although I wish they were bottled in glass containers, they’re minimally impactful for plastic bottles and can be reused. I’ve taken to using mine as bottles to carry my own home pressed juices in, as water bottles, and as mini-planters to start seeds in for my garden, so they’re still going to good use no matter what I do with them.
The next time you’re on the go or in a hurry and think you can’t make time for a healthy, nourishing snack or meal on the go, I hope this will encourage you to pop into your local grocery store or Whole Foods and try a bottle of my favorite vegetable juice. Your skin, and the rest of your body, will thank you!
Even though it may sound like an ad, I wasn’t paid to write this post. I seriously love these Garden of Flavor juices, and I really wanted to share how much they’ve helped me on my road to recovery. It was upsetting to look in the mirror and not only know how badly this accident affected me on the inside but to also be able to see the stress and trauma from it written on my body as well in the form of bumps scrapes, bruises, and swelling. Anything I could do to make the visible reminders fade quicker was something I was going to try, and this was the most delicious thing I tried by far. I’ve been a fan of this brand for a long time anyway, and I wanted to show them some love!
Please note that these juices are exclusively available at Whole Foods in the Mid-Atlantic and North Atlantic regions of the United States. They also offer other juices, energy elixirs, and juice cleanses online, which you can find here.
