Lately, I’ve been feeling over basics. I continuously see brands promoting their “basics,” such as white tees, plain jeans, and grey cardigans. While it’s absolutely a good thing to have a solid foundation of functional, high-quality basic pieces in your closet, nothing excites me fashion-wise quite like something different and a little “out there”. From capes, oversized collars, bold patterns, and unique fabrics to embroidered details, unusual silhouettes, and mixed fabrics, I’ve been shopping for something “different This knit bell sleeve blouse from Free People was exactly what I was looking for!
.”Whether it’s wearing neon printed Lilly Pulitzer shifts or pairing bold colors with interesting textures and cuts, I prefer to stand out a bit more with my clothing. Rather than investing in basics, which don’t get me wrong, if that’s your style, that’s fantastic (I’m a firm believer that you should wear whatever you want, regardless of what anyone else thinks), I prefer to wear more interesting pieces. I love massive sleeves, large ruffles, bold and interesting prints, and pieces that really stand out, and I especially love pairing them with other bold pieces!

Free People Knit Blouse, J. Crew Linen Ruffle Skirt, Mary Frances Lobster Bag
More is more in my book, and when I saw this massively wide-sleeved top from Free People, I was immediately in love with it! It comes in a few different colors, but I went for a bright orange-red color, and wore it with my ruffled, crinkle linen apron skirt by J. Crew, and realized the colors of the top were the same colors as one of my beloved Mary Frances crossbody bags (you can see more of her beautiful handbags here, here, and here)! I’ve linked these items above for you, and although they’re sold out in stores (the Free People top went really quickly!), a few sizes are still available around the internet!
