After graduating from U of M last year, I accepted an incredible job that allows me to work from home doing environmental consulting remotely for a major eco-friendly automotive company. This job allows me the awesome flexibility that has made it so that I can create and maintain my blog. The only downside of working from home is that I spend most of my day sitting at home while I work. How can that be a downside you may ask? Well, I’ve gotten out of shape. Instead of walking around my university or walking to my car, walking around an office building, and walking around throughout the day, I wake up, get dressed, and walk to my desk where I stay all day until my work is done. I used to be able to do 100 or so walking lunges in a row, and now I struggle to do 40. I want to make a positive change for my health and get stronger. I’d love lose 25-30 pounds by the time the snow melts in the spring, and I know that goal is completely reachable!
To help me reach my goal weight:
I’m overhauling my diet by cutting out added sugars, cutting back on breads and pastas that don’t make me feel great, and eating more fruits and vegetables throughout the day.
I’ve been a vegetarian for the past 5 & 1/2 years and I’d like to start introducing more vegan meals into my diet to help me increase my fruits and vegetable intake.
I don’t drink pop or alcohol, only water tea, and I want to stay hydrated by drinking more water each day, so I’m aiming for around 64 oz.
To increase my flexibility, I’m going to spend 10-15 stretching when I wake up and before I go to bed, which will hopefully help me relax and sleep better too.
I plan to work out for 30-60 minutes each day, stretching before and after my workouts.
Sleep 7-9 hours each night.
A local workout studio is offering a free week of workout classes which I’ll be starting after we move next month, and I’d love to attend 3-4 times a week.
I’d like to get back into hot vinyasa yoga once or twice a week, which is not only challenging for me, but it helps improve flexibility.
As a reward for hitting my goals:
-8lbs = Massage
-13 total pounds = Pedicure/Manicure & New Lilly Pulitzer Leggings
-18 total lbs = Massage & Facial
-23 total lbs = Massage & New Sports Bra (or this one!) & New Tank
Final goal: -28 lbs = Spa Day
I’ve even created a fitness wishlist! One thing I don’t have many of are sports bras, so I plan to pick out a couple soon!
I’m a very visual person, so I’ve created a fitness Pinterest board to help my visualize my goals, learn new workouts, and stay motivated, you can see it here.
I will post a monthly update to let you know where I am with my goals. I’m going to be using the app “Loseit” to track my nutrients, calories, exercise, water intake, etc. and I’ll keep you posted on how that goes too. If you’d like to join me, either add me on the app or email me at anniewearsit@gmail.com and we can encourage each other! Thank you for reading!
