I realized I’d never shared the rest of the photos from our vow renewal on the Isle of Skye in Scotland! Each of our respective sets of parents divorced when we were young, so growing up we didn’t fully understand what it meant to be married, because we didn’t have any good examples of it in our lives. Almost all of my childhood friends’ parents were divorced too, so to me, marriage seemed like a foreign concept, and I really didn’t understand what I was signing up for on our wedding day, although I knew I’d give our marriage everything I had and somehow I knew we’d make be just fine. Miraculously, we work so well together, and get along so perfectly, that our marriage has been fantastic. We’ve built the most beautiful life together, and I couldn’t be more thankful to go through life with my handsome Robin, aka @tastefullyengineered!
We wanted to update our vows to one another, and include all of the things we didn’t know to promise each other five years ago. Both at our wedding and at our vow renewal ceremony we wrote our own vows, but this time they were much lengthier, and reflected the six years we’ve been together and our shared hopes for our future. It was so sweet to see how many similarities we had between our vows this time. It was such a beautiful experience, and I’m so thankful to have someone in my life who loves me the way he does. I hope that we are able to set an example for others in a way neither of us had growing up, and to show how wonderful a relationship can be where both people put one another first and love each other completely. #hellofrom the Isle of Skye! Doesn’t the Fairy Glen in Scotland look like something straight out of Lord of the Rings or a fairytale? This glen was full of winding paths mown by wandering sheep, massive ferns, and babbling brooks that meandered through the Highlands. Doesn’t the grass look soft enough to sleep on? It felt like silk and was the perfect place for our picnic lunch! Where in Europe have you traveled?

Scotland is full of so many beautiful spots to vis

Scotland is full of so many beautiful spots to visit, particularly in the Isle of Skye in the Highlands. Do you have plans to visit Scotland in 2020? Here are 5 of my favorite places on the Isle of Skye to inspire your travels! The first image is just beyond gorgeous Mealt Falls, which can be seen in the second photo. Snow melt and loch water feed this impressive waterfall which tumbles down more than 60m to the sea and basalt rock columns below. Erosion has exposed beautiful bands of colored rock along the cliff side. It’s a prime spot for whale and dolphin watching in the summertime! The third image is of the Fairy Glen, a truly magical park filled with pyramid shaped spiral hills, crystal clear ponds stocked with colorful fish, and seas of green ferns as far as the eye can see. The Quiraing, viewed from above via drone, is what you’ll find in the 4th image. If you can manage to drive up the mountain’s hairpin turns on a very narrow one lane road, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Isle and the Sea that lies beyond. Lastly, a Highland Coo (cow) we spotted at @hectorshighlandcoos grazing in the grass represents the incredible wildlife and biodiversity in Scotland. Mackinac Island is my favorite place in all of Mic

Mackinac Island is my favorite place in all of Michigan. It’s the only city in the state where cars aren’t allowed, and people instead get around primarily via biking or walking. One of my favorite festivals, the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival happens each spring on the island and dozens of varieties of French lilacs burst into gorgeous color to celebrate the arrival of warmer weather. The island is also filled with thousands of other blooms like tulips, dahlias, zinnias, and many more, making it a paradise for flower lovers (like me!). Have you ever visited @mackinacisle?

Loving nature and the wild outdoors is in my blood. I’ve always felt called to the water’s edge, and there have been very few things more precious to me than things that grow, and the natural world around me. Visiting Scotland and walking in the footsteps of my ancestors, along high basalt cliffs, following rushing rivers that magically transformed into waterfalls that tumbled down into the sea, hiking up into wild green covered mountains and through endless fields of wildflowers, I felt at home for the first time in my life. My travels have made me realize how deeply where we come from shapes who we become, and I think that’s such a beautiful thing, whether we realize it or not. These two photographs that I made on the Isle of Skye, show how gorgeous every inch of this incredible nation is. Look closely at the beautiful purple heather, the basalt pillars worn away by time, and shorelines that seemingly disappear into the horizon. There is so much beauty in this world, if we only stop and take the time to seek it out.

Our visit to Senso-ji shrine in Asakusa, Tokyo was

Our visit to Senso-ji shrine in Asakusa, Tokyo was one of the coolest parts of our time in Japan. Dedicated to the Shinto goddess of Mercy, Kannon, the shrine was allegedly built after two brothers found a golden statue in a river more than 1,000 years ago. They decided it was divine and tried to get rid of it, because they believed themselves unworthy, but it kept popping back up and following them around. They eventually built this shrine to house it, where it now allegedly rests. Destroyed during the tragic fire bombings of WWII, this shrine was rebuilt as a testament to living a merciful way of life after the war, and still stands today to remind visitors to be kind and to stand up for each other. #asakusa #japan #tokyo #sensoji #visitjapanus #visitjapan #shintoshrine #shinto #travelphotographer #travelasia #asiatravel
