Classic Hair Accessories
I love adding fun hair clips, ribbons, and accessories to my hair. Here are a few of my favorite classic hair accessories!
Handkerchiefs or handmade eyelet ribbons add fun dimension and texture, plus they can be tied into buns, braids, loose waves, and everything in between! Ps. Ignore my frizzy hair in the sunflower field– it had been thunderstorming on and off all day long, it was 100º F, and my hair couldn’t handle it, haha.
Hair clips elevate any outfit. The above is fashioned to look like a silky bow (which never needs to be retied!) and the below is a replica of ancient Greek coins. Some of my other favorite hairpins in my collection include a glittering emerald beetle, a Japanese koi fish kite I picked up at a vintage shop in Kyoto, a pink striped surfboard I bought in California, and one my friend made for me from preserved flowers from my wedding day! I love that they can be meaningful, whimsical, or just plain cute!
Claw clips are a great way to keep hair out of your face or keep it off your neck. Plus, it looks more polished than loose waves (though both are great!)
Hair ribbons are endlessly versatile. Wear them as a headband, tie them around a ponytail, pull back some of your hair, braid them into an intricate style– the list goes on and on. The above was handmade from black velvet.
Headbands are another great way to add depth to an outfit while complementing some element of what you’re wearing. I love something with texture or height, particularly something metallic. It’s not something I see often, so it definitely helps an outfit stand out, if that’s something you’re interested in doing (like during a special or festive occasion) I love stacking headbands, one wide, one thin, too!
