I was invited to attend a trunk show hosted by Bay Harbor Yacht Club and Lilly Pulitzer, and it was SO much fun! We were served lunch, listened to a presentation from print designers, participated in a silent auction (which included items like the original LP Print Studio Painting of the Barefoot princess herself, pictured above and below), and were able to shop the new Lilly Pulitzer arrivals!

The proceeds from the tickets and silent auction benefited the Crooked Tree Art Center in Petoskey, where I used to take dance lessons as a child. The Lilly Pulitzer trunk show gave us a look at their current favorite items.
A few things I learned during their presentation:
– Lilly never wore underwear. The fashion icon preferred to go commando, which is why she insisted her dresses be lined with white cotton.
– Her first dresses were made from kitchen curtains! They became REALLY popular when Jackie Kennedy wore one on the cover of Time magazine.
My home town Petoskey was the home of one of the nation’s first (and original) 25 Lilly Pulitzer stores. Since it’s a super popular lake resort town, it was only natural that Lilly would want to capitalize on the relaxed and fun atmosphere of the area. They’ve also drawn inspiration from the Great Lakes with prints like UGotta Regatta (YGR), which is one of their most popular prints. This sailboat-themed print was inspired by the annual regatta of the same name in neighboring Harbor Springs.
– Lilly is one of the only brands in the world that paints all of its prints by hand, making each one completely unique.
– They’re best selling prints ever were Scuba to Cuba, (original) Let’s Cha Cha, and Hotty Pink First Impressions (in that order)!
– There’s talk of redoing the originals line (think prints such as Dark n Stormy) in different colorways!!! [It’s not something they said they were doing for sure, but they stated that it’s definitely an idea that’s on the table, so fingers crossed we can get a pink DNS colorway!]
Everything was bedecked in pink and green, and the dress code was “Lilly or louder”! I chose to wear my Watch Out Delia Shift and mirror BCBG flats!
The tablescapes were simply darling. I loved that they were decked out in preppy pink and green colors, and they even provided each of us with a few gifts at our seats. I was even featured as a sponsor on the programs!
A few of Lilly’s original designs were on display, and they were breathtaking! I’d love to own one of these classic pieces, especially the long pink shift maxi!
Before the party started!
The white stands in between the tables were utilized during the fashion that was put on for us! The models walked in between the tables to the plinths while a print designer gave us a few fun facts about the prints and designs the models were rocking.
It was a delightful evening that supported a wonderful cause!

They were so beautiful in person, I wish you could have seen them! Too bad I don’t know the print or style names, the pink one is on my ISO list!
