Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is one of Michigan’s most popular getaway destinations. Located on Grand Traverse Bay, this resort and spa was the perfect winter break for us, and we had a wonderful time luxuriating in the spa, enjoying our first meal out in months, and exploring the natural beauty surrounding the resort.

Iris Farms, on the outskirts of Traverse City, is a beautiful, six acre farm with more than 1000 different varieties of hybrid irises that visitors can order for their home gardens, or if you visit later in the season, they also offer u-Pick for irises, and sell handed bouquets. This gorgeous, family owned farm is a must-see when exploring Northern Michigan.
Gaijin Japanese Restaurant in Traverse City is one of the best Asian inspired restaurants in Northern Michigan. This ramen shop has everything from bao buns and yakiniku skewers to tempura, and of course has dozens and dozens of ways to customize ramen from making it totally vegan to packed full of eggs and meat with extra noodles.
S2S Sugar 2 Salt is my absolute favorite brunch spot in Northern Michigan, because they serve locally and ethically sourced seasonal ingredients, which supports local farmers and fishers. It’s wonderful to know exactly where each ingredient on the menu comes from, and knowing that each item on my plate was harvested as recently as that same morning means I can feel great about eating there and supporting small scale, low-impact farmers and growers. This restaurant offers so many plant based options and substations, you’ll be addicted to it like I am in no time.
Grand Traverse Resort’s Spa is where I had one of the top 5 best massages of my life. I had such an incredible experience there, and the massage helped me feel so much better, both mentally and physically, and helped me truly feel relaxed for the first time in months.
The Imaly City Lavender Festival was a beautiful celebration of all things lavender. We spent a delightful day amongst 23 acres of beautiful, purple, French lavender, and took home massive bouquets of fresh lavender to use in cooking, cosmetics, and around the home. We loved doing yoga amongst the lavender, and enjoyed lavender flavored foods and beverages, and learned how to cultivate, preserve, and enjoy lavender all year long.
