5-Star Hotel Palacio Villapanés Palace Suite Review
Hotel Palacio Villapanés in Seville, Spain, was once a regal palace and the home of noble Sevillanos. Built in 1728 for Admiral Manuel López Pintado, one of Sevilla’s wealthiest residents and explorers, it is centered around a stunning open-air courtyard with tropical plants and a large marble fountain. Hotel Palacio Villapanés has the most luxurious rooms in the city and is also the perfect location for exploring Sevilla.

Arrival at Hotel Palacio Villapanés
Upon our arrival, the bellmen helped us check-in. Then, the staff helped us orient ourselves in the city and plan routes to the major landmarks we wanted to see in Sevilla. After this, we brought our luggage to our room, freshened up, and headed out. It couldn’t have gone any smoother.
Ambience of Hotel Palacio Villapanés
Stepping into Hotel Palacio Villapanés was like stepping back in time. Everything was as elegant and pristine as it would’ve been back in the early 18th century. As part of the baroque hotel’s purchase from the original family, the hotel chain CoolRooms vowed to keep the hotel’s historic charms. So, they kept the original wood or tile flooring. They kept the family crest. Therefore, the only renovations they’d make were setting up the guest rooms with private bathrooms.
Despite temperatures soaring well beyond 105ºF every day of our stay, Hotel Palacio Villapanés was cool and breezy. The open-air foyer was filled with live plants, a cherubic marble fountain, and a canvas roof to keep the sun off the lower levels. Plus, Marble floors and Sevillian tiles kept the hotel cool. Our palatial suite had powerful air conditioning, too!
There were several sitting rooms with beautiful Andalucian charm. My favorite was the hotel bar’s parlour. The rich gemstone hues were so inviting and comfortable. It was the perfect place to sit and relax after a long day of exploring.
The rooftop of Hotel Palacio Villapanés is just as beautiful as its interior. Complete with sunbathing beds, a pool, and outdoor showers, it offers incredible views of Sevilla. Plus, it’s a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over the city with a glass of Spanish sangria.
Our Palace Suite with Private Balcony
Our room was perfect. It was spacious, eco-friendly, and the ideal temperature. It also had a private balcony. Though I didn’t take many photos of it, the bathroom was massive, with a spacious walk-in shower and bath, double vanity, and tall mirrors.
This bed and its pillows were magical. We joked about buying one of those Spanish mattresses and trying to take it onto the plane as our personal item because it was so comfortable!
More importantly, we didn’t hear another guest during our entire stay. Though staff cleaned our room daily, it was plain to see that they were determined not to disturb us, which we appreciated after a hotel stay in Munich, where the housekeeping staff entered our room three times in as many hours.
CoolSpa
Hotel Palacio Villapanés’ in-house spa is located on the lowest level. It offers a seven-step relaxation ritual that guests can use at their own pace. The ritual includes soaking in a hot tub, steaming in a sauna, tightening pores with an ice scrub, plus a few other steps.
Additionally, they offer an array of excellent spa services. I highly recommend getting a massage and then indulging in the relaxation ritual afterward. For the entire four hours, we were in the spa, we had it all to ourselves.
Final Thoughts
This was one of my favorite hotels. Less than 15 minutes from the Plaza de España and Real Alcazar Palace, it was in the center of Old Town Sevilla. We couldn’t possibly have picked a better hotel in the city. It is a perfectly balanced luxury with baroque Andalucian charm, and I loved every day of our stay.
