Thank you to the Townsend Hotel, Lucido Fine Jewelery & Rivage Day Spa for sponsoring our weekend adventure in Birmingham!
As always, all opinions are my own.

The Townsend Hotel is a beautiful, luxury boutique hotel in Birmingham, Michigan, and it was the perfect place for a romantic weekend getaway! From the moment we pulled up to the curb of the hotel we were welcomed with warm smiles and caring staff who did whatever it took to ensure we didn’t have to lift a finger during our stay, and it was the perfect place to focus on one another, and celebrate our wedding anniversary a bit early. We could have spent the entire weekend within the Townsend, because everything we needed was right on site, and as convenient as could be, so if you’re looking for somewhere to reconnect with your loved one, here a few reason to choose the Townsend Hotel.

- The Incredible Staff
As I mentioned above, from the moment we pulled up to the curb, the staff of the Townsend Hotel were there to help us unpack our car, take our jackets, direct us to the front desk, bring our things to our room and park our car for us. The entire weekend we didn’t have to do anything, because the staff took care of it and when above and beyond to far exceed our expectations. We never heard the staff say “no” or “I’m not sure” to anyone, they just did whatever it took to make guests happy while being kind, courteous, and professional, and it made all the difference during a relaxing and romantic weekend. If you want unmatched service, head to the Townsend. - Beautiful Rooms, Fully Stocked
Our Luxury Suite was beautifully appointed, and supremely comfortable. Anything we could have needed from phone chargers and robes to slippers, extra pillows, and city guides were in the room, and we immediately felt right at home. Our bed was extremely comfortable, and the smart room controls meant there were many pre-programmed lighting options we could activate just by touching a button, located on the nightstand or by the doorway. The decor of our room was just stunning, as you can see above, and was very elegant and romantic with several flower bouquets scattered around the room, gold accents around the room, and a large marble bathtub in the bathroom. - Convenient Location
There was no reason for us to leave the hotel unless we wanted to, but if we needed anything, The Townsend was located right downtown and next to fantastic restaurants, near two different parks, and a number of fun stores, and everything in the city was within walking distance. - Partnership with Rivage Day Spa
Speaking of never needing to leave the hotel, one of my favorite parts of the hotel was the fact that you could have anything you needed ordered up to your room from food and workout clothing to drinks and even massages and other spa services! The Townsend partners with Rivage Day Spa in Birmingham and guests can schedule in room couples massages and other spa treatments without having to leave their room. We elected to explore the spa ourselves, which was beautiful and we received one of the best massages I’ve had in a long time, but if you’re looking to relax, I highly encourage you to book in-room services. The front desk concierge can help organize this service for you. - Partnership with Lucido Fine Jewelery
Another one of the hotels partners, Lucido Fine Jewelry, offers luxury jewelry from top names like Rolex and Messika, which means you can either have an incredible gift waiting for your loved one, or walk down the street into their beautiful jewelry store and have some of the best service (and Champagne) of any jewelry store in Michigan. - Hotel Amenities
Other hotel amenities include the ability to arrange add-ons upon arrival such as chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne that can be waiting for you and your loved one when you walk through the door. If you’re interested in seeing the town, you can arrange a Shinola bike ride via the concierge, or if you’d like to stay a bit later on your final day, you can arrange to check out at 4pm, the latest hotel checkout I’ve ever seen. If you need anything laundered or pressed during your stay, the concierge can handle that as well. During our stay we found that there really wasn’t anything the concierge couldn’t do, from making reservations for us to finding an HDMI cable for our television, we didn’t have to worry about anything during our visit and we could relax and enjoy our stay. - Dinner in the Rugby
We had some of the best food in Detroit at the Rugby Grille, and if you’re staying at the Townsend I recommend eating here at least once. The restaurant is located inside the lobby of the hotel, and has staff that will go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay. Upon learning we were celebrating our wedding anniversary early, the staff placed rose petals on our table and had champagne waiting for us at our table. I recommend the Scottish Salmon, Tuna Tar Tar the Rudgy Cheeseboard and the Avocado Salad, they’re all incredible! - Nightcap in the lobby
After dinner at the Rugby Grille, we went into the lobby for a nightcap and had lots of fun chatting on our own and meeting other guests. You can order just about any drink you can think of, and I’d recommend the Hummer. It wasn’t on the menu, but rather something our server recommended, and it was like an alcoholic milkshake, but infinitely better! - In-Room Movie and Popcorn
After our nightcap, we headed up to our room to watch a movie, and we had so much fun picking out a film and snacks. We ended up watching the newest Pacific Rim movie, but we had hundreds of movies and shows to choose from. By calling concierge, guests can have popcorn, drinks, snacks, and a number of other amenities brought to them while they watch newly released movies. - Afternoon Tea
The next day we weren’t hungry until around lunch time, because we had eaten so well the day before, that we didn’t eat until Afternoon Tea, which has been a longstanding tradition at The Townsend Hotel. Plan ahead for this one, because it requires reservations but was well worth it. I recommend at least the Deluxe Afternoon Tea, because it offers such a luxurious variety of drinks, pastries, salads, finger sandwiches, and desserts that you’ll even be able to take leftovers home with you! This is something my husband and I will return to the hotel for, even when we aren’t guests of the hotel. - The Townsend Bakery
Afternoon Tea isn’t the only place to get scrumptious baked goods! If you found your new favorite pastry or dessert during Afternoon Tea, head next door to the Townsend Bakery where the magic happens. Many of the baked goods served within the hotel are lovingly prepared at the bakery, and you can find anything from the best cookies I’ve ever had to decadent cakes, brownies and bars to incredible coffees, muffins, scones, and biscotti that are out of this world. They have a half-off sale every Saturday, and things go quickly, so be sure to get there early whichever day you choose to visit. - Breakfast in Bed
I meant it when I said guests don’t have to lift a finger at The Townsend Hotel, and ordering breakfast in bed is another way they pamper their guests. We ordered lox and potatoes, an omelette, coffee, and a few other delicious brunch items, and had fun watching the sun rise over the city from our room’s balcony. I highly recommend ordering room service at least once during your stay at The Townsend, because the presentation is just so fun, and there’s something so simple yet romantic about eating delicious food in a beautiful place with the one you love.
Have you ever stayed at The Townsend Hotel? If so, what was your favorite part? If you haven’t, what are you most excited about at the hotel? Let me know in the comments below, and keep an eye out for my complete guide to Birmingham!
